Use of Debt

Debt is one of the most powerful and most dangerous instruments in business. What does biblical wisdom say about borrowing, leverage, and the stewardship of borrowed capital?

Proverbs 22:7 tells us that "the borrower is servant to the lender." This is not a prohibition on debt — it is a warning about its implications. Debt creates obligation, constrains freedom, and amplifies both gains and losses.

For the Kingdom entrepreneur, the use of debt must be approached with wisdom, prayer, and clear-eyed assessment of capacity to repay. Not all debt is equal — there is debt that builds capacity and debt that destroys it. Discernment, diligence, and dependence on God are the essential companions for any believer navigating borrowed capital.
